Projects Completed in 2008:
2008 proved to be another busy year for PBTDS. We completed our 5th consecutive year of Introductory to Survey Practice training for Registers of Scotland staff. We also completed our 4th consecutive years Advanced Survey Training with Land Registry staff working towards their Tech RICS membership. In June we visited the FIG conference in Stockholm and the INSPIRE conference in Maribor.
PBTDS director Paul Bullock has completed the Training Needs Assessment for the Immovable Property Registration Office (IPRO) in Albania. Paul worked with IPRO to identify skills needed within their organisation. He also provided a training plan and worked with them to identify a future training strategy. This work was part of the World Bank funded Land Administration and Management Project (LAMP).
The 2nd and 3rd October 2008 saw PBTDS at the Working Party Land Administration workshop in Cavtat, Croatia looking at the Influence of Land Administration on People and Business. PBTDS, together with it's partner Geolink Consulting, gave a paper on training and development. The topic was aimed at learning from training programmes in international projects funded by organisations such as World Bank and European Union. One such project is taking place in Croatia, which is undertaking the reform of the real property registration system, including the reform of the Cadastre and the reform of Land Registries.
